Optometrist

Dr. Michael J. DiGirolamo is the founder of Primary Eyecare, formerly known as 20/20 Optometry. Mike’s undergraduate major was Electronic Engineering at California State Polytechnic University in Pomona. He switched majors to pre-optometry and later attended The Los Angeles College of Optometry at U.S.C.

At graduation, Dr. DiGirolamo opened his first office in Mission Viejo, CA. Three years later he opened another practice in San Bernardino, CA. Then in August, 1986 he moved his family to Charlottesville and shortly afterward (July, 1987) he opened “20/20 Optometry” in Seminole Square. The office was relocated to the current location on Barracks Road in 1995 and it was renamed to “Primary Eyecare.”

In 2002, he sold his practice to his son and daughter-in-law, Drs. Joe and Janice DiGirolamo, and he retired. Dr. Michael J. DiGirolamo is a veteran of the United States Air Force (1966-1970).
