Dr. Joe DiGirolamo grew up in Southern California, and after moving to Charlottesville he graduated from Western Albemarle High School. (Several of his teachers are now patients!) He then received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Villanova University located in Philadelphia. Remaining in Philadelphia, Dr. D. attended and graduated from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University. Upon graduating, Dr. DiGirolamo energetically joined his father in practice at Primary Eyecare. Several years later his father retired, and he and his wife became responsible for the practice. Since then the practice has expanded to include several more doctors and locations to serve the central Virginia community.
In 2010, Dr. DiGirolamo is eagerly anticipating the publication of his recently authored book “The Big Family Book of Eyecare,” -A contemporary family reference for vision and eye health. Be sure to look for it soon on local bookstore shelves and on Amazon.com.
Dr. DiGirolamo enjoys spending time with his family, reading, exercising and GT auto racing. Dr. DiGirolamo is also a Remote Area Medical (RAM) volunteer optometrist.
